The Artist
Terri JohnsonBorn in Washington D.C., Terri has been an artist all of her life. She was the kid in school who always got notes sent home in her report card that she was drawing pictures rather than paying attention in class. She began her formal art training at the Corcoran Gallery of Art at the age of 12.

After graduating from Syracuse University with a B.F.A., she parlayed her degree in Fashion Design into a very successful career. She designed for such prestigious labels as Bill Blass Jeans, Liz Roberts Dresses, Berek and most recently Storybook Knits.

She also continued to paint and was first invited to exhibit her art at the Steinbaum Krauss Gallery in New York City in 1990. Since then, her work has appeared in galleries in New York City and Bethesda, Maryland, including the Caelum Gallery (NY), the Strathmore Hall Arts Center (Bethesda), the Museum of Art and Design (NY), and the Women's Media Center (NY).

She focuses her love of art and color into her painting. Her love of color shines through in her vibrant florals and her desire to show women of color in a strong positive light, in pictures that capture not just their faces, but their hearts and spirits as well.
